As an instructor for the NCDA Facilitating Career Development course, I am an adjunct faculty at Kalamazoo Valley Community College teaching Career Decisions and College Success Strategies courses. I have been a certified teacher for students in grades 3-9 for science, social studies and English.
My projects have also included extensive development of career resources and materials including projects for the Capital Area Michigan Works!, Ingham Intermediate School District (greater Lansing, MI 12 school districts), Michigan Occupational Information System (MOIS), Michigan Virtual University, and UAW/General Motors Partnership.
I hold a Masters of Education degree with a Curriculum and Instruction specialty. My Masters Degree research study was titled, Career Integration in Academic Classrooms. Research and writing on this topic has continued for the span of my career. For over 25 years I have combined research, writing, teaching and facilitating educators to find the best methods for changing educational paradigms to help students achieve, while overcoming the barriers to educational change.
Annual Presenter Since 2005
I am a certified Career Development Facilitator Instructor with the National Career Development Association.
I annually present my research at conferences, and am known for my practical approaches to career development working with workforce development specialists, business partners, educators and students.
Focusing on writing in the early part of my career, I worked for seven years as a news correspondent interviewing business CEOs along with people in all kinds of industries for the Booth Newspapers’ Kalamazoo Gazette. I simultaneously worked as an on-air news correspondent with WCSY Radio. These experiences helped me understand the needs of businesses.
